Arcam A25+

Integrated amplifier

Relative price

typical

Among the 59 integrated amplifiers in the catalogue, this one is typical.

A band places a component against its peers and carries no price. It is deliberately the only price indicator on this page: a second one, measured against a different set, would narrow the two together far enough to give the figure away.

What it is

Arcam Radia A25+ — flagship Radia Plus integrated; refreshed 2025 over original A25 (2023). Arcam 5th-generation Class G amplification: Class A up to 15W (zero crossover distortion) + Class AB beyond. 100W/8Ω + 165W/4Ω. ES9280A Pro DAC (analogue) + ES9018 DAC (SPDIF) — dual-DAC architecture. HDMI eARC + USB-C + Bluetooth 5.4.

Audioholics bench review (2024): "100 watt/ch slimline stereo integrated amplifier featuring high resolution DACs, excellent noise and distortion performance on our test bench... 100dB SINAD at near full rated power... SNR of 95dB at 1 watt demonstrates that Arcam prioritized a very clean signal path."

Audioholics noted limitations: "low preamp output drive clipping at 1V RMS and the ho-hum phono preamp section. However, the A25 was not designed to be a standalone preamp." For diehard vinyl users, pair with external phono stage. Pre-out 1V is acceptable for A25-matched partner amps but inadequate for long-cable runs to high-Z power amps.

"+" refresh upgrades vs original A25: transformer upgrade + better linear regulation to analogue PSU + further refinements to power and mains filtering ("enhance overall clarity"). Visual: precision-cut glass front panel.

Speaker pairing: 100W/8Ω + 165W/4Ω + Class A first 15W + DF~150 = most demanding speakers. Excellent partner for low-sensitivity reactive loads (B&W 800-series, KEF Reference, PMC active, Magneplanar). Tower speakers in large rooms work confidently.

CATALOG CORRECTION: original IAG ownership note was wrong — Arcam is Harman International (Samsung), not IAG.
