What it is

Designed by Derek Hughes from first principles (NOT a BBC-licensed model — unlike LS3/5, LS5/9, LS5/8 in the Graham range). Born from desire to try a larger driver in a small cabinet; "scaled-up LS3/5A rather than shrunken LS5/9".

PORT-BUNG NOTE: Sound on Sound explicitly suggests buyers can block the rear port with foam — "transformed from a monitor I found not easy to get a grip on, to one I had few doubts was delivering reliably." Port-blocking converts the LS6 to a quasi-sealed alignment with reduced bass extension but better placement tolerance. Foam bungs not factory-supplied. This is a possible workaround for sealed-cavity buyers but constitutes user modification of the speaker design and is not formally supported by Graham Audio.

Front-panel tweeter trim (+1/+2dB) provides per-room calibration not available on most rivals — but does not address the rear-port placement issue.

CATALOGUED FOR REFERENCE: retained in catalogue as the canonical example of an EXCELLENT rear-ported design that fails on enclosure-suitability rather than depth or score. Consider as upgrade candidate IF the cabinet is later redesigned for free-standing speaker placement, OR if buyer accepts port-bung modification. Also see LS6 10th Anniversary (front-ported) — not yet in catalogue but a future addition candidate.

CAVITY HEIGHT INELIGIBLE (added 2026-05-12 per constraint audit): Cabinet height 360mm exceeds the cavity's 324mm physical maximum by 36mm. HARD INELIGIBILITY confirmed (in addition to rear-port placement issue documented above). Per the Graham LS5/9 precedent (2026-05-05), height check now enforced in eligibility_filter.py — LS6 fails it. Catalogue retained as §7 reference for redesigned-cabinet context.
