What it is
CHASSIS: 218×89×363mm — half-width, matches XM9 form factor exactly. XM7 + 2× XM9 = three half-width units that fit within a single shelf in various arrangements. Dimensionally cavity-compatible (88mm height, 218mm width, 363mm depth — depth slightly over 305mm physical but preamp not subject to cavity rotation rule since cables exit rear and there are no monoblock-pair heat constraints). For practical cavity placement, the XM7 sits in front of the cavity normally.
CRITICAL ELECTRICAL FIT: RCA-only output topology. Same constraint as 3510 Pre. Cannot natively drive XLR-only power amps (Naim NAP 250/350, Sugden MPA-4) without RCA→XLR adapter. Native fit with: XM9 mono (RCA + XLR jumper), 3510 Mono (RCA + XLR), Cyrus Mono X (RCA + XLR), Audiolab 9000P (RCA + XLR), Cambridge Edge W/M (RCA + XLR), Quad Artera (RCA + XLR), Chord ULTIMA range (RCA + XLR), Rega Solis (RCA + XLR), Roksan Caspian 4G Power (RCA + XLR).
PHONO STAGE NOTE: MM-only. Suitable for moderate-output MM cartridges (2.5mV nominal). NOT suitable for MC (use external MC phono stage feeding line input). Cartridges in this catalog that pair natively: Audio-Technica AT-VM95E + AT-VM95SH + AT-VM95ML, Audio-Technica AT540MLb, Goldring 1042, Ortofon 2M Black, Ortofon 2M Bronze. NOT suitable for: Hana SL/EL/ML (MC), Lyra (MC), Ortofon Cadenza Bronze (MC), Goldring Eroica (MC), Rega Apheta (MC).
