Naim NAC 332

Preamplifier

Relative price

above typical

Among the 29 preamplifiers in the catalogue, this one is above typical.

A band places a component against its peers and carries no price. It is deliberately the only price indicator on this page: a second one, measured against a different set, would narrow the two together far enough to give the figure away.

What it is

Naim 300-series flagship preamp; designed and manufactured Salisbury, UK. New Classic styling with white logos (replacing traditional green). Bi-directional ZigBee remote and inter-product synchronisation (connects to NSS 333 streamer, NAP 250/350 power amps via 3.5mm optical).

I/O combination is exceptional: 3 RCA + 2 XLR + 3 DIN inputs; outputs on BOTH XLR and RCA (uncommon at this level — many flagship preamps are XLR-only). This makes NAC 332 unusually versatile for matching with non-Naim power amps.

8-pin DIN with ±18V supply makes it a natural pair with NVC TT phono stage (no separate PSU needed for that phono).

Competition record

Assessed against 7 rivals across the sixty systems: 3 head-to-heads won, 33 lost.
